Rang De Basanti

Very rarely you get to see such kind of movie posters in bollywood. Few of them are Swades, Dus, Beckham.

Recently, I came across this one. Movie seems to be promosing, specially the music by A.R Rehman & lyrics by Prasoon Joshi are already unique in its own way.

Very True...!

"the basic economic resource is no longer capital, nor natural resources nor 'labor'.
It is and will be knowledge." ---- Peter Drucker

I found this signature line in one e-mail.

Different kind of New york

During the Last three days, I've seen different kind of New york.
The streets were overly crowded due to Subway strike.
The view was like "All the Ants coming out of their colonies".
For me it was the fastest commute, I ever travelled between work & home as there were no cars allowed in the Manhattan.
Speaking of "Different kind of New york", I've also witnessed 2003 Black out & 09/11.

Got the Keys ?

This is the second time, that I've locked myself out of the apartment.
I wasn't lucky as first time, when because of summer the windows were open and I could jump in. To make the matter worst this time, I had the Doctor appointment.
On top of that when I called doctor to inform about my delay, She couldn't wait for much longer as she was following the Ramzan month.
So overall, It was crises for 30 min. The thing is, In crises sometime you meet helping people and some time a**. All you got to do is Calm Down !

Mama Mexico

Mama Mexico, One of the Best Restaurant in NYC and The Best One for Mexican food.

I had coincidental chance to visit it for Lunch, which was suppose to be our Prod Phase-I rollout celebration, but it turns out Phase-I rollout isn’t quite successful yet.

Anyhow speaking of Mama Mexico, the Restaurant has it own authenticity…Th
e food, The atmosphere…The lighting arrangement …and finally the way the make Guacamole at your Table…Now that’s what I call… On Demand

Everybody hates Chris

I observed that, the front of every New York City MTA bus
were emblazoned with "Everybody hates Chris" poster.
So how could I forget the timing, the only thing, I had to remember was "It's on UPN".

Being a fan of "Everybody loves Raymond", this is the show I am looking fwd
for this season. We both liked this cool guy,

A birds eye view

This is how they look like from top,
Katrina/Rita/Emily Or Ophelia/Dennis/Adrian.

World Meteorological Organization is running out of Names for Storms, Hurricanes.

Here is a cool Hurricane Tracker animation,
It shows, how they came and disappeared.

Well, that was easy one.

10:30 : First Car Service
It was the first 5000 miles service, It wasn't bad at all than i had expected.
I've spend most of the time, watching 10 TV's , Free coffee, Bagel & small muffin
Nachos & Newsweek.

12:15 : Doctor's appointment

Indian Road Signs

Here is something funny about Indian Road Signs,
While travelling across the country, I've noticed that most of the time "Speed Bump" (Speed Breaker) signs are posted almost on the edge of bump or sometime you will even see after the actual bump.

Isn't it ? that this sign is to warn the driver and not to inform the driver that
" You've crossed Speed Bump"

And Boy ! Do we really we need so many bump at single place ?

India's Dilemma...Iran or US ?

The UN Summit is going on in the City, and Mr. Manhoman is in Manhattan.
While having lunch on the Park Ave, Two of my friends could glance at his Motorcade.

He is having a busy schedule, some of the items on his agenda are

Newyork times says
"Bush administration officials say, India must now choose who is the best partner
to meet its surging energy needs - Iran with its natural gas resources or the West with its
ability to help in developing Indian civilian nuclear power.

Administration officials have warned India that if it fails to cooperate on Iran, the civilian
nuclear energy agreement negotiated last summer could be rejected by Congress."

My Dil Goes Mmmm...

Friday night (09:25), It was the sold out! A big disappointment!
So it was the Saturday morning 12:25 show, which we’ve made it.
And when we came out the movie, we saw a long Queue for the 03:25 show.
We were glad about our 12:25 shows decision,
We also got the best seats in the hall (center seats from last 2 rows).
Believe me, The angle does matter when you see a movie on big screen.

Speaking of movie,
Salaam Namaste was perfect movie to watch for,
Specially in the current phase of life we are going thru…Pregnancy and Parenthood.

In many scenes, we could relate ourselves to the scene. some of them were

  • Scene 1 : Confirming the pregnancy with two tests.
  • Scene 2 : First shock and my reactions
  • Scene 3 : The first Ultrasound (Sonography)
  • Scene 4 : My blood test for Thalassaemia minor. Mine was first too.
  • Scene 5 : My wife also reads “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”
  • Scene 6: The Baby's Kicking
  • Scene 7: Push....Push...well...I am looking fwd for that.
Overall,
You will not notice that the movie handles very complicated subject lightly & sensibly.
And It does live a impact. Even Director has touched the subject like "When life starts ?"
In the future, We have one more director (Siddharth Raj Anand) to watch for .
Talking abt Saif & Preeti...here is one sample of their timing and senses of humour.

And finally …"My Dil Goes Mmmm… Mmmm… Mmmm"

Thums Up...Toofani Thanda !

Here in the US, You hardly have choice between Pepsi & Coke, unless your local Sabzi-Mandi Store imports Thums Up from India.

Yesterday, after longtime I've grabbed Thums up bottle while picking up Milk from Grocery Store.

On Cautionary note, I would like to add Never try Thums up if you had Espresso coffee shot 5hrs before. It may lead to Sore Throat Congestion, which currently I am suffering from.

Wellness Music for Pregnancy

My wife's friend has given her this "Garbh Sanskar CD".
After listening first few lines itself, you feel so relax and smoothing.
Indeed, it is Music for Healing & Wellness.

Specially, the track "Address To The Child" - By Amitabh Bacchan is so meaningful, followed by classical Mantra's from Bhagavad Geeta.

Now, that's what I call The NEWS !

M.B.A. Students Bypassing Wall Street for a Summer in India.

Following is a extract from NY Times articale:

Graduate students from some of the top business schools in the U.S. are vying for internships
at India's biggest private companies.

This summer, Omar Maldonado and Erik Simonsen, both students at the Leonard N. Stern
School of Business at New York University, did something different.
Bypassing internship opportunities on Wall Street, just a subway ride away from their Greenwich Village campus, they went to India to spend the summer at an outsourcing company in Gurgaon, a suburb of New Delhi.

"The India opportunity grabbed me," said Mr. Maldonado, a Boston native.
"I wanted to get a global feel for investment banking and not just a Wall Street perspective."

India can be a jolt to a first-time American visitor. In Gurgaon, a small town despite its tall office complexes and shiny new malls, Mr. Maldonado and Mr. Simonsen share an apartment
where the power fails several times a day. Temperatures are regularly above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.

The two men said they came prepared to find inadequate infrastructure,
but were not prepared for the daily frustrations of Gurgaon. There is no mass transportation system, and shopping, even for something as basic as an umbrella, can take hours. They rumble to work in an auto rickshaw - a motorized three-wheeler that seats two and is a ubiquitous form of transport in Indian cities.

But the sophistication of the work being done in Copal's Gurgaon office contrasts with the chaotic city outside. Mr. Simonsen said he was amazed. "I came expecting to see number-crunching and spreadsheet type of work;
I didn't expect American banks to farm out intricate analytics," he said.
The two students are working on a project that analyzes investment opportunities for clients across 23 countries.

Infosys Technologies, the country's second-largest outsourcing firm after Tata Consultancy Services, discovered how popular India had become as an internship destination for Americans when the company began recruiting: for the 40 intern spots at its Bangalore headquarters, the company received 9,000 applications.
Only those with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.6 or more made it to a short list, and
then they were put through two rounds of interviews.

The final 40, who cut a wide academic swathe from engineering schools like M.I.T. and
Carnegie Mellon to business schools like Stanford, Wharton and Kellogg, have since arrived
on campus for average stays of three months. The interns work in areas from marketing to technology.
They live in a 500-room hotel complex on Infosys's expansive campus in the suburbs of Bangalore, exchanging coupons for meals at the food court and riding
the company bus downtown to decompress at the many pubs and bars.

Interns like Mr. Anders are getting a close view of social changes that are happening in India.
Outsourcing has created thousands of better-paying jobs and spawned communities of young
people who can afford cars, apartments and iPods.

"I thought the stipend was the down side," said Mr. Anders, "but coming here is a priceless experience."

Got a Domain Name

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Here comes: "www.sagarmitkari.com"

Finally, I did register my own domain name.
Here are the things that inspired me to go far it:

  • It was on sale for $4.98/year on Yahoo, which seems to be good deal.
  • It’s easier to promote your blog.
  • I can add following line in email signature: also available on web: www.sagarmitkari.com
  • I get an email address as sagar@sagarmitkari.com which redirects to sagarmitkari@yahoo.com .
  • There is no point being anonymous as you can get persons phone & mail address by just typing his name in Google. The thing I was worried about.

So In future,
Instead of asking "What’s Up?"
Just type in www.sagarmitkari.com and you will find out !

Living the Moments

You have imagined that,
One day you will get married;
Soon your wife will become pregnant;
In evening you will be seating on sofa, Watching a TV…
Suddenly the baby will start kicking.

Well, Guess what? It’s happening…Baby is kicking a lot and I can feel it from outside.
Thou you got to be very patience & quiet; while listening to the movements.

On Scientific note, After 5 months baby can hear the outside things.
No wonder, Abhimanyu heard all about Chakravyuh while he was inside the womb. That was the story I heard.

Now we are concered about, what will be the impact on our baby as we are watching too much hollywood movies ?

Who is He ?

It happen to be one of my classmate friend has operated on my Father.
Now the thing is, I am not able to re-collect him in my memory by his name;
What more awful is, I spoke with him on the phone
and I am still not able to figure it out "Who is he?"
To make the matter more complicated, I can’t acknowledge that I don’t know him as it will look inappropriate.

What is encouraging is, Some People do remember me after all these years.
