A quick in-out using FDR Drive

Unexpectedly, It was the quickest & hassle-free visit to NYC, to showoff main business spots to my brother. A quick in-out drive on FDR Drive was a pleasant one, most importantly traffic free. So far, this side of city was undiscovered area for me. It seems that its not bad option to drive in New York city on weekends, specially if you are in group of 2/3 people and If you know the city very well. Just keep aside $40/$50 dollars for car parking and tolls.

Family visit to NYC

This was a tiring family visit to New York city on the occasion of parents visit, by this time I've become a professional guide who can cover most of the NYC attractions in half a day starting with Grand Central, Park Ave, United Nation, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, NYSE, Ground Zero (WTC), Time Square and Empire State and in the end serving the dinner in Indian Restaurant.

another visit to JFK airport

After some time, I made another visit to JFK, but this time it was personally emotional one, due to the parents first visit to USA. This time too it was same bumper to bumper traffic, (a JFK airport trade mark) but didn't bothered much.

This 4th July Weekend.

Having a holiday in the middle of week isn't really much helpful, The time you start enjoying it, Its gone. We've spent 30 minutes watching the firework and 90 minutes getting out of the traffic.

I always prefer watching local suburb's fireworks from near distance then the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks from far distance.

At last, this weekend will be remembered for paying $55 Parking Violation ticket for a casual visit to the park. I always put coins in parking meter without taking any chance, but this one time I took a chance and I was fined huge amount.

Snapple Real Fact #243

I got this real fact #243 on the cap of Snapple bottle which says:

"If you put all the streets in New York City in straight line, they would stretch to Japan"

If that’s true, then I might have completed half of the distance during my all years walking in NYC.

Team Lunch at Pongsri Thai Restaurant

Another Holiday lunch at New York City at Pongsri Thai Restaurant and this time I did finish Pad Thai completely. The dishes were tasty and prices are moderate. Thou the wine was disappointment, I would have preferred Thai Ice-Tea instead.

Ride in Lincoln Town Car

I remember in those New York days, After working late hours we use to get a ride back home in these Lincoln Town Car. But today I read that Ford Motor Company will be shutting down the production of these Cars after 2007.

Most of the time, We use to meet our South Asian Fellows in the Drivers Seat. Indeed, It was spacious car with comfortable black leather seats. The 45-60 min. journey use to cut down while listening to 1010 WINS AM Radio station on the air.

Different kind of New york

During the Last three days, I've seen different kind of New york.
The streets were overly crowded due to Subway strike.
The view was like "All the Ants coming out of their colonies".
For me it was the fastest commute, I ever travelled between work & home as there were no cars allowed in the Manhattan.
Speaking of "Different kind of New york", I've also witnessed 2003 Black out & 09/11.

Walking in NYC

I've been walking and walking and walking in NYC since last 5 yrs.
Be it Downtown or Midtown, Grand Central or Penn Station, Park ave or 5th ave.
Lincoln Tunnel or Holland Tunnel , Port authority or South Ferry.

But Every time, I change the combination of Ave & Street to reach my work place
I feel like a tourist. It feels like I've never been in this Corner before.

Some Bullet Points.

To summaries the last one month's in bullet points.

I’ve witnessed the Black out of 2003 in the New York City. Somewhere around Aug 14th.
Had been lucky to reach home safely.

Also witnessed the Hurricane Isabel, thou it was far far away from me.

Got a new apple iPod, now people think I am rich.
But reality is I’ve sacrificed many things just to save money for that
Like long weekend trip.

Would be flying Air India for $1050.
Yes, I prepared my mindset for Air India hospitality.
