Mass Layoff

It was another farewell lunch for my very own manager at newly opened "Kona Grill" restaurant .

A sudden surprising layoff of my manager was shocking thing for our entire team. So lesson to learn is, when mass lay off are announced they don’t differentiate anybody.

Lunch at Coromandel Cuisine

It was long due to visit Coromandel Cuisine for Indian food. After many failed attempt of finding this place, it was the occasion of team lunch which brought me to this restaurant.

Due to the lunch time, we tried our hands on lunch buffet which had 4 veggie-variety and 2 non-veg ones supplemented with Kabob & vegetable bhajia. Personally, I enjoyed their dessert (Rice Pudding) the most, a nice way to end your meal with the sweet and cold feeling in your mouth.

Overall the food was delicious with reasonable price tag. The atmosphere is warm and casual. Thou I couldn’t understand the logic of giving 15% Tips on lunch buffet.

Recipe for "Green salad"

After eating various salads in lunches at work it was time to try out one at home.

So the other day we picked the essential ingredients for the “Green salad” from the grocery store. Most importantly we needed fresh-cut Asian salad, Honey Mustard dressing, Zesty Italian Dressing, fresh Mozzarella cheese and Garlic Croutons as toppings.

It is obvious that you will have few of these items handy when you plan for salad.
Those are tomatoes, sliced cucumber, carrot, kidney beans, chick pea, green peas, white onions, green & bell peppers, Walnuts or almonds.

As for salad recipe, all you got to do is throw these veggies and toppings in big bowl, add the dressings accordingly, mix-up the entire stuff by tossing the bowl and there you have it, A fresh, tasty healthy green salad.

And thus it adds another dish, which I can make on my own.

Stew Leonard’s Dairy Store

Sometime just taking a different route might lead you to a new place. That’s what happened this weekend when we stumbled upon this great new specialty dairy store called “Stew Leonard’s”. They claim to be the World’s Largest Dairy Store.

The unique thing about this place is everything is fresh here, even the bakery products are served out of the ovens.

As New York Times says "Disneyland of Dairy Stores" because of its own milk processing plant, costumed characters, scheduled entertainment, petting zoo and animatronics throughout the stores.

Indeed, We had good time shopping here.

Pad Thai - the usual

Pad Thai – that has become “The usual” for me at any Thai restaurant.

I love those sauteed rice noodles with the combination of veggies, garnished with crushed peanuts and coriander, served with a piece of lime.

The Occasion was another farewell team lunch at Thai restaurant.

Anthon Berg's Chocolates

One of my office colleague got these very unique chocolates called “Anthon Berg” which are originally imported from Denmark.

The specialty of these chocolates is they are filled with real Liquors from inside. The Liquors variety range from Stoli Orange, Borghetti, Jack Daniel's Whiskey to Malibu Rum.

I guess, Thats the best combination one could imagine with chocolate.

Snapple Real Fact #243

I got this real fact #243 on the cap of Snapple bottle which says:

"If you put all the streets in New York City in straight line, they would stretch to Japan"

If that’s true, then I might have completed half of the distance during my all years walking in NYC.

Tasting White Wine

After tasting red wine for quite sometime today I got opportunity to taste a white wine and this time I did feel the real difference between them. It was the Italian sparkling wine "Prosecco Villa Jolanda" . As they say White wines are usually a good place for beginners to start because they are initially more palatable to novices since they often tend to be sweeter.

The main difference between red and white wine is that grape juice used to make red wine contains skins, seeds, and stems. As a general rule of thumb, red wines are heavier and more complex than white wines

Team Lunch at Pongsri Thai Restaurant

Another Holiday lunch at New York City at Pongsri Thai Restaurant and this time I did finish Pad Thai completely. The dishes were tasty and prices are moderate. Thou the wine was disappointment, I would have preferred Thai Ice-Tea instead.

Dinner at Chola,CT

It was the dinner for two at Chola (CT), turns out to be a quiet evening being only two people sitting in the whole restaurant. No wonder, they have different price tag for Dinner than Lunch.

The dinner started with complimentary papad and chutney. As a Starter, we ordered Chola Veggie Basket which contains all types of pakodas including onions, potato, flowers and samosa served with Mango Chutney. A heavy one, if you are ordering just for two.

On side dish it was Mulltigawny Soup (Puree of lentil soup, lemon) for our little one, which looked like he enjoyed.

The main course was Malai Kofta & Punjabi Kadhi (A must try written on menu) with garlic & plain Naan served with plain rice sprinkled with green chickpeas.

Overall Food was great considering the expensive price tag exclusively applied on Dinners.

Known to be Martha Stewart's favorite local Indian restaurant, so don’t be surprise to see many dishes have been tagged as Martha Stewart's favorite on their Menu Card.

Eating Walnuts

Its time that I should start eating those Walnuts, which are currently lying around in the pantry. Few Walnet Receipes to help you consume walnut in various forms.

Specially I enjoy cracking the walnut shells and eating the inside part rather than eating ready made one.

Research suggests that eating walnuts at the end of a meal may help cut the damage that fatty food can do to the arteries, Tests showed the walnuts helped to reduce the sudden onset of harmful inflammation and oxidation in arteries that follows a meal high in saturated fat.

Walnuts also helped preserve the elasticity and flexibility of the arteries, regardless of cholesterol level.

Team Lunch at Darbar Indian Restaurant

This time it was the Darbar Indian Restaurant for our team lunch, an occasion to visit New York. A point to note that I do not miss visiting New York, specially for The Work.

What I noticed about these Team Lunches is, if there are more than 12 people in the team then you can hardly listen to the conversation of person sitting on other side of the table. As result of this, mostly what happen is two Groups get formed and each having different conversation on different topic. But having a round dinning table you can avoid this situation, which are rare to find in the restaurants.

Speaking of Darbar, Food was according to standard, atmosphere was decent and price was modest. Only problem with the Lunch Buffet is when you want to get something its not there and you hate making frequent rounds and changing the plate each time on that congested table. I would also appreciate, if I could get a Naan on time, at least not after I about to finish my food.
